BEV WITHERS OLIVER, FUHS 1943
Oliver, Beverly Withers February 12, 1926 - March 29, 2009
Beverly Withers Oliver, known as Bev to her many friends, passed peacefully at St. Jude's Hospital in Fullerton, California on Sunday, March 29. In her typical fashion, Bev had spent the last three months working extremely hard to recover from the effects of a stroke which had affected her speech.
A resident of the Morningside Retirement Community in Fullerton, prior to her stroke, Bev had been extremely active in Cal State Fullerton's Continuing Learning Experience, an organization dedicated to lifelong learning. Bev was also an active volunteer in Kaiser Hospital's Hospice Services. In 2007, she was named the Austin Kahne Hospice Volunteer of the Year in honor of her tireless services to patients in the Kaiser Hospice program. She had also received the Golden Apple Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Parents and Teachers Association.
Bev was born in Los Angeles, raised in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School. She attended Occidental College and graduated from Oregon State University. Bev retired from the Little Lake School District after thirty four years of teaching first and second grades and touching the lives of many students.
After her retirement, she spent much of her time traveling to over 50 countries of the world with Elderhostel as well as with many friends who shared her zest for life and spirit of wanderlust.
Bev is loved and missed by her sons, Scott, of La Habra, California and Tom and his wife, Cheryl, of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren, Jeff Oliver and Katie Enarson and her husband Brent; her niece, Julie Withers-Goedde; her twin great-niece and nephew, Lauren and Brad Withers-Goedde; as well as her many, many friends in the community.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Community Church, 222 N. Euclid St., in La Habra on Saturday, April 4 at 2 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Childrens' Section of the Public Library of the City of Fullerton.

E-mail message from Bev’s friend Dan Klisch on August 20, 2010:
I knew Bev for many years after she retired. She was one great lady
I would like to verify where she was interred. I knew she had made arrangements at Rose Hills. Was she cremated? Please advise.
(I had no information, but he found the answer for himself and sent the following message:
Rose Hills website has very complete info.
Bev was cremated & now rests in 'The Gardens Memorial Wall.'
Bev was a great friend & a terrific person. I wanted her to get to be 105+.
