HAPPY MAY DAY

Happy May Day!

Seventy years ago today I was putting May Baskets filled with candy at my friends' front doors and expecting them to come chase me to tell me "Thanks". (South Dakota usually didn't have flowers blooming yet so I got used to putting candy in the baskets. I found out when we moved to CA that my new friends didn't know any thing at all about this May Day tradition. What a disappointment.)

Some friends I met later knew about this celebration of spring. Were we all kids raised in snow country who were so excited to see the end of winter?
