There was a Methodist Church in LaHabra on First street. It had an always open foyer entrance, where the bell rope hung from the ceiling. One of the town kids' favorite things to do, was ring the bell as many times as dared before the police came. I suspect most of us only had about a dozen rings before we fled. BUT! Al Van Beenan rang it 78 times before he fled. Not many tried to beat Al's record after that. Boys will be boys.
