This e-mail message was sent to Pat Vierra Zima (FUHS ’53) recently: by Bill Cunningham’s wife (Carolyn Buechler FUHS ’55)

For those of you who don't already know, Bill was admitted to Skaggs Hospital, Branson, MO. on Wed. at 10:30 a.m. I was there till 10:00 a.m. today (Fri.) Just home long enough to do a load of wash & take a shower.

Briefly: There is a team of specialists looking for an infection. I think they've done and are continuing to do every test known to man. That's a good thing, except it's hard on him and, consequently, on me. That's why it was a good idea to get away for awhile. He's a very sick man. Please hold him up in prayer. Thank you for your cards & calls. They mean so much.

Love from us both,
Carolyn

Pat replied to Carolyn and asked if she could tell the classmates about Bill so that people could send cards and prayers. (E-mail Pat or Connie if you don’t have Bill’s address in Kinberling City, MO. To see Connie’s email address, click on “See My Profile”.)

Pat, Yes, I think it's o.k. to share the info with classmates. They mean a lot to Bill after all these years, or maybe it's because of all these years. Cards are fine but no phone calls, please. He's under the care of 3 specialists. We should know more next week after more tests. He doesn't want to be hospitalized. It's mostly a lung problem, but diabetes is always a threat. Love, Carolyn

This was in an email message from Bug Hodson:
I am positive that he has fighting blood in him. Why? When Bill was in Junior High School he had a bad accident and his main leg artery was severed. By the time he got to the Cottage Hospital on Amerige (sp) and Pomona Ave, he had lost a lot of blood. My father lay right next to him and a transfusion was performed by putting a needle in my father's arm and then into Bill's arm. So it was an emergency direct transfusion. I was in the waiting room when my father came out and he was covered with blood. I think that it was both his and Bill's. Bill had the same type of blood that my father did. That's how I know that Bill has real fighting blood in him. I will pray for him. He and his wife are such nice people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Richard Hodson
