TELEMARKETING INFO

CHECK OUT THE WEB SITES LISTED AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE PHONING- the web sites say that once you register, it's permanent, not just for 5 years. Does this mean that the last time we registered, the law hadn't been passed yet that made it permanent and that we need to register again?

Here is an email message from my cousin:
Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 7:31 AM
Subject: Cell phones
We received this message from corporate regarding our company cell phones. Thought it may be of interest.
REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.. It takes about 20 seconds.
or go to www.donotcall.gov
THIS FIRST HOT LINK (ABOVE) SITE SAYS:
Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.
THIS SECOND HOT LINK (ABOVE) SITE SAYS:
Consumers can delete their telephone numbers from the registry at any time by calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) – the call must be made from the telephone number they wish to delete.
(FROM CONNIE: THIS CONFIRMS THE TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THE EMAIL MESSAGE, BUT DO WE NEED TO REGISTER OUR NUMBERS AGAIN IF WE ALREADY DID IT ONCE BEFORE? )
