He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Sue in 1974. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. His devotion to his family was such a big part of his life. Les was born in Atwood, CA on September 18, 1926. He was the 5th child of Emil and Elizabeth Rodieck of Atwood, CA.
He was a graduate of
Fullerton Union High School prior to serving his country proudly as a member of
the US Navy during (WWII) 1944-46. He also served as
a volunteer fire fighter for the small town of Olive, CA and
for the California State Forestry Dept. Les also served as a volunteer Sheriff
Deputy for the OC Sheriff Dept. and was a board member and coach during the
early years of Olive Little League. He also was a long time member of the
American Legion in the City of Orange. He enjoyed his many years of membership
in the Izaak Walton League of Orange and the many friendships he developed
during that time. One of his greatest joys was farming and for many years he
was in the citrus orchard management business for the areas of Atwood, Anaheim,
Yorba Linda, Brea and La Habra. He maintained the orchards and ranch that his
father developed in the early 1900's, which are now the Santa Ana River Lakes.
He then became a trenching contractor and operated his business as Rodieck's
Backhoe Rental until he retired.
