Albert, Peggy Eileen Muckenthaler died Monday March
2nd, 2015 at age 71 from her most recent battle with cancer. Her final days
were spent surrounded by family and friends at her home in Fullerton. She was
born February 19, 1944 in Hutchison, Kansas to her parents, Harold and Shirley
Muckenthaler.
It was very important to Peggy that she celebrate her 71st Birthday, in fact you may say it was her last 'Bucket List' goal to be completed - which she did 11 days ago.
Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Sherryl in 2007; her mother, Shirley in 2010; and her father, Harold in 2013.
Her family's Spanish colonial heritage dates back seven generations to the very beginnings of what is now Orange County with Jose Antonio Yorba, a member of the Portola Expedition sent from Mexico in 1769, to claim and settle Alta California for the Crown of Spain.
Peggy attended Ford and Golden Hill Elementary Schools, and Wilshire Junior High School. She was in the first graduating class at Sunny Hills High School in 1962. After high school graduation, Peggy attended Stephen's College in Columbia Missouri.
Peggy spent most of her adult life involved with the Muckenthaler Cultural Foundation as a Board Member, Historian, Docent, and President of the Center Circle Guild, which her mother Shirley was co-founder. In 1965, the Muckenthaler Family donated the 18-room mansion and 8.5 acres to the city of Fullerton; to be used as a cultural center for everyone to enjoy. In 1999, the Muckenthaler House / Muckenthaler Cultural Center / "The Muck" [as it is affectionately referred to] received designation by the National Register of Historic Places.
When not volunteering at "The Muck", for many years Peggy represented the Muckenthaler Family's interest as a Director of the Kraemer Land Company of Anaheim, CA. http://www.kraemerland.com.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald Albert; her son, Chad Albert of Durango, Colorado; her daughter, Staci Anaya of North Tustin; her grandchildren, Colin Anaya, Paige Anaya, Alexandra Anaya; and her sister, Kathy Riddle of Newport Beach.
A Celebration of Life is in the process of being planned for Family and Friends.
