Raul Dorame

La Habra, CA 1935 - 2019

Raul Martinez Dorame passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2019 after battling a lengthy illness. He was born on February 17, 1935 in La Habra, CA to Ernesto and Rosa Dorame. Raul grew up in La Habra as the eldest of five surviving siblings. He graduated from Fullerton High School and subsequently developed a work ethic that was "second to none," sacrificing an opportunity to attend college to help support his family when his father was taken seriously ill. He met his wife, Hope (Esperanza), at a dance in Santa Ana, CA and they were married on January 21, 1956, enjoying a happy marriage of 63 years. Together, they raised one son and two daughters, providing a loving family atmosphere and giving them lifetime opportunities that would always serve them well. Raul was a long-time foreman at Kirkhill Rubber Company in Brea. He prided himself on always being able to meet "production goals". Yet, he was viewed as an approachable boss, who was helpful to all he worked with. In retirement years, Raul found himself enjoying his Ensenada beach house with his grandkids. Grandpa's pancakes were always a huge hit! He enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, camping and spending time with family and friends. Raul is survived by his loving wife Hope, his son Ernesto, two daughters Theresa Barajas (Carlos) and Diana Martinez, brother Raymond Dorame (Julie); seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and longtime friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers infant Ernesto and Gilbert, and sisters Elisa and Isabel. A viewing and rosary will be held at Memory Garden Memorial Park, Brea, on December 15, 2019 from 6 - 9 p.m. A memorial mass will be said at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, La Habra, on December 16, 2019 at 10 a.m.
