DOUG YARBROUGH, FUHS '45

Yarbrough, Douglas Hyde January 23, 1927 - Feb 7, 2010, passed away on February 7, 2010 one day after his 57th wedding anniversary. Doug was born in Coral Gables Florida to Arthur and Katherine Yarbrough. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. Doug is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Mark, Claude, and John, and daughter, Janie Y. Shreve. He leaves four grandchildren, Ian and Connor Yarbrough, Natalie and Michael Shreve.
Doug grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School. He has a bachelors degree from Claremont Men's College. Throughout his high school and college years he excelled in sports in football and track. He served in the U.S. Navy flight training program in World War II. Doug was active in business as a general contractor for over forty years. He never really retired as he continued in the operation of managing his apartment houses. His greatest love was in the outdoors. Summer camping and hiking in the Sierra with his family, sailing out of Oceanside Harbor, and skiing Mammoth Mountain every winter. His last ski trip to Mammoth was on his 82nd birthday. He loved contract bridge, and was a Life Master. Doug lived life to the fullest, and we will miss him forever.
A Memorial Service is planned at a future date at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Fullerton. Donations in his memory may be made to The Academy of the Arts: Fullerton High School.
