2006 POW WOW VOLUNTEERS GET GIFT FROM BOB OLLAR ‘51

Bob Ollar ’51 and his wife, the former Dorothy (Lois Martin) Thomas also '51, showed their appreciation to the 2006 Pow Wow volunteers by giving them hand-crafted Indian-head candles. Those who received them felt honored to be given this beautifully-rendered school symbol.

The Ollars started this tradition last year, and those who haven’t received one yet hope that they continue so that they might earn one of these coveted prizes.

The candles take much wax and even more labor to mold and paint. Bob and his wife work all year on creating these candles. When someone asked him if he had considered selling them, Bob said the effort involved would make them too expensive- that these were a labor of love.

They are a fitting tribute for Pow Wow volunteers who also perform a labor of love.
