JOE POTTS, FUHS '50

Potts, Joe Wilson (Potsy), 80, of Fullerton, passed away on Monday August 16th, at St. Jude Hospital. He worked as Executive Vice President of Don Green Sales Co., Inc. for 40 years. Joe was born in Bakersfield and grew up in Fullerton. He attended Fullerton Union High School where he met the love of his life, Barbara. Joe was an avid baseball fan and at the age of 19 he signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Potts; son, David Potts (Robin); daughter, Nancy Azevedo (Billy); granddaughter, Sarah Pilato, Carley Jones (Justin); grandson, Joe Potts; great- granddaughter, Gabriella; soon to be great-grandson, Jackson; sister, Albertine Barlow (Les); nephew, Robert Barlow, and sister, Barbara Neal (Bill). He is also survived by a large loving extended family, that includes friends he and his wife have remained close to since high school. Memorial Services will be held Saturday August 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Loma Vista Memorial Park, 701 E. Bastanchury Road, Fullerton, CA 92835. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 4138, Fullerton, CA 92835.

LEE LAUNER, FUHS '36

Launer, Lealand Convis, peacefully passed way on July 24, 2010 at the age of 92.
Lee was born in Los Angeles on June 14, 1918, the son of Albert and Lulu Launer, both parents being early Orange County residents. Lee graduated from Fullerton Union High School, the University of Redlands, and the University of Southern California School of Law. Launer's law school studies were interrupted by his service in the US Navy as a commissioned officer in the Naval Air Transport Division. He was later admitted to the California Bar Association in 1948 and joined his father's law firm: Launer, Chaffee, and Launer.
Throughout his career, he specialized in corporate law. Launer served as CEO of Fletcher Aviation Corporation, Hadco Engineering, Interstate Electronics Corp. and Shafco Industries. Lee's interests primarily centered on family, church, and community. He was a member and active leader in both Fullerton First United Methodist Church and the Newport Center United Methodist Church. Lee served on the Orange County Aviation Commission, five years as Chairman, during the planning stages of the Orange County Airport. He served 19 years on the University of Redlands Board of Trustee and has since been designated Trustee Emeritus. He also served 9 years on the Advisory Board of Cal State University, Fullerton.
Lee and his wife, Betty, travelled extensively, especially to Switzerland, where the Launer clan originated. Leland is survived by his wife, Betty, of 69 years; sister, Kathryn Launer Corbett and four children: Lawrence B. Launer, Luanne Launer Kreutzer, Leland C. Launer Jr., and Alan E. Launer and 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made in Launer's name to: Newport Center United Methodist Church, Memory Garden Fund, 1601 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar, CA 92625; or to The University of Redlands Scholarship Fund, 1200 East Colton Ave. P.O. Box 3080, Redlands, CA 92373-0999. A private memorial service is planned.
