BOB BURKHART, FUHS 1957

1939 - 2013

Burkhart, Robert "Bob", born March 2, 1939 in Valley City, North Dakota to George and Mabel Burkhart, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2013. He graduated from Fullerton High School, served in the U.S. Navy, and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in accounting. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an active member of his Lutheran church. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy; children, Donna and Greg; two granddaughters, Ariel and Ty; sister, Bonnie Irwin; and numerous other family members and friends. Predeceased by parents, brother, Roland and sister, Marlene. Services will be held on Friday, September 27th, 2013 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church,12432 Ninth Street, Garden Grove. Viewing will be at 10:00 am with services to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Bob Burkhart Memorial Fund. He will be missed immensely and we are thankful to God for blessing our lives with his presence.

CHARLES WILLIAM (BILL) KOHLENBERGER, FUHS 1945

Kohlenberger, Charles William (Bill), 86, long time resident of Fullerton, passed away Sept. 17, 2013. He attended Fullerton Union H.S., and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, in 1951 in electronics engineering. He was employed in the aerospace industry, retiring from Boeing Corp in 1994. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, Boy Scout Leader and dedicated to serving his church and community. He is survived by wife Barbara, sons Robert & Roger, daughters Carol & Jean, 6 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm on 9/28/13.

Connie,

I received this note this morning from Mary Pat (Lloyd) Toelle’s son Michael, telling me of her death on Sept.11-2013.

 

This is what he wrote:

She was admitted to the hospital on Sept.5. She had hit her lifeline button because she was short of breath.

On Sat/ Sept7 she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and was given 2-6months to live.  She was not in pain.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.

I will add this info -- her husband Dave (FUHS '48) died in 2008 and Mitch (son) died in 2011 and Matt (son)  in 2012.
