HARRIET JANE SLOBOHM TELLEZ, FUHS 1951
Tellez, Harriet Jane
Harriet, known by most as Jane or Mrs. Tellez went to her Heavenly home September 6, 2017.
Jane was born September 3, 1933 and lost her battle with breast and bone marrow cancer 3 days after her 84th birthday.
Jane was born, raised, lived and worked in La Habra for her entire life. She touched the minds and hearts of students, faculty, administrators and many friends. Jane retired from teaching after 39 years from Washington Jr. high school with many honors.
A true La Habra native, Jane was a national and international traveler. Mom made trips across the United States in the family station wagon. She traveled to North and South America, Europe and China with husband Don, family and friends.
Jane was also an avid card player, enjoying Bridge and Canasta. Mom and Dad would play Gin for hours at the cabin or beach.
Knitting, needlepoint and collecting things she treasured were some of her favorite hobbies. Mom was a fantastic cook and saved recipes she wanted to try. Jane loved holiday and birthday gatherings with family and was diligent about getting all of us together. Jane was a member of East Whittier Women's club, PEO, was honored by the La Habra Masonic Lodge and was active in Bible study at LHHPC. Jane believed from a very early age in The Gospel Message of Salvation in Jesus Christ.
Jane is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald; children, Brad, Tommy (Pam),
Megan Tellez Burnes (Ron); grandchildren Amanda, Kurt and Kyle; great grandson Caiden.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 7th at 11:00am at La Habra Hills Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the LHHPC Jane Tellez Memorial fund at 951 N. Idaho St. La Habra, CA 90631.

CHERYL COLLINS JOHNSON, FUHS 1953

email from Earl Gibson, FUHS 1953

CHERYL JOHNSON
JOHNSON--Cheryl Cynthia.

(November 20, 1934 - September 16, 2017), passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against cancer. She was devoted wife of Robert Martin Johnson, cherished mother of Matthew Martin Johnson, loving grandmother of Grayce and Blake and eight godchildren, beloved sister of Wayne Collins and his wife Alice, and beloved cousin of Ken, and his wife Jeanette, and Steve Knott of Anaheim, California. Cheryl was raised in Southern California and moved to San Francisco where she was a gifted grade school
teacher. She is godmother to several of her students' children. In 1971 Cheryl and her husband Bob relocated to New York City. Cheryl was a lover of opera and was active in the Puccini Foundation. She was very active in the Carl Schurz Park Association and the Plymouth Camps in Plymouth, Vermont. Cheryl and Bob were particularly active in the Salt Ash Mountain Camp, which their son Matt attended. Cheryl will be dearly missed by her many friends and family. All who knew her adored her for her unerring graciousness, intelligence and insightfulness, bringing light and love to so many lives. We mourn this tremendous loss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Calvary Hospital and/or Mary Manning Walsh 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, NY 10461. Funeral services private, and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
