GEORGE A. VANDERGRIFT, FUHS 1961

GEORGE VANDERGRIFT

1942 - 2014
Vandergrift, George A. was a sixteen year resident of Victor, Montana. He passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Patrick Hospital.

George was born in Whittier, California on July 19, 1942 to George and Carmen Vandergrift. Raised in Fullerton, California, where he attended College and studied Geology. He worked for State Farm Insurance while attending Western State College of Law. After getting his law degree, he decided to go into business for himself.

In 1974, he started a successful business, Renco Sales located in Southern California. Renco Sales is a manufacturer representative for the plumbing industry. He was still an active part of the business after 40 years, working remotely from Montana. He was well respected and liked by the industry and will be missed.

He loved the mountain life in Montana and enjoyed hiking and being surrounded by nature. He planted many trees on his property that would show the fall colors. He was also an avid gardener with many successful harvests, shared by friends and family. He loved his cats, Amey and Foster and was a supporter of animal welfare. He loved Western and Indian art and enjoyed collecting painting and Indian baskets. He was also a season ticket holder and loved Grizzly football games along with tailgate parties with good friends. He loved his ice cream, especially Chocolate runs through it and Moose Tracks, a small bowl every night.

He received his private pilot's instrument rated license from the FFA and loved anything to do with aviation. He flew his Cessna 182 to Duck Creek, Utah and snowmobiled in to his remote cabin. He also flew his plane to several national parks which he loved to explore with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Ronie of 26 years; his children Jamie, Matt, Sarah and Teresa; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his sisters, Julie and Janet. Many close friends all over the country along with long time business partners and associates.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in George's name to Ani-meals in Missoula Mt. or the Bitterroot Humane Society in Hamilton MT.

A HISTORY LESSON ABOUT DEMOCRACY

A HISTORY LESSON ABOUT DEMOCRACY

 In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University   of  Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian   Republic  some 2,000 years prior:
"A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a
dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the
beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200
years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

 From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

The Obituary follows:

USA Born 1776, Died 2016

.
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in
St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by:         Obama: 19               Romney: 29
Square miles of land won by:    Obama: 580,000      Romney: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million  Romney: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Obama: 13.2             Romney: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory
Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare..."

Olson believes the  United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population
already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase..

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million
criminal invaders called illegal’s
- and they vote - then we can say
goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years
