“JAKE” BOYD, FUHS 1952


Pat Vierra Zima forwarded the following message from Sue Burns Boyd (FUHS ’53) telling Pat that her husband Jake died Sunday, Aug 10, 2014.  Sue said it would be nice if other classmates could be told.

Wanted to let you know Jake passed away Sunday Aug 10th.

My son, dtr in law and myself are heading to CA this weekend to make the arrangements over at Loma Vista. When I know I will let you know.

ELVIN “JAKE” BOYD 1933 - 2014

Boyd, Elvin "Jake", passed away August 10, 2014. He was born July 25, 1933 in Fullerton CA. He is survived by his wife, Sue Boyd; son, Gary Boyd; daughter-in-law, Vicki Boyd; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11:00am August 30th at Loma Vista Memorial Park followed by a "Celebration of his Life" at the Fullerton Elks Lodge. Family requests no flowers.

WILLIAM EDWARD VOLLMER, FUHS 1972


William Edward Vollmer, age 60, of Alvordton, Ohio, died suddenly at 3:50 A.M. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, Ohio. Mr. Vollmer graduated from Fullerton (California) High School in 1972 and then from Western Michigan University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Biology. He worked at Napa Auto Parts in California and had many hobbies, including building computers, tinkering on farm equipment and helping others.

William Edward Vollmer was born on January 1, 1954, in Santa Monica, California, the son of John and Teriko (Yono) Vollmer. He married Teresa (Reagle) Smith on October 12, 2001, in Portage, Michigan, and she survives.

William is also survived by two sons, Jason (Sara) Vollmer, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and William Vollmer, of Goshen, Indiana; one daughter, Christina (Danny) Moore, of Three Rivers, Michigan; one stepson, Mark (Stacy) Fackler, of Russiaville, Indiana; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara (Gary) Dunn, of Riverside, California, and Janet Vollmer, of Anaheim Hills, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Vollmer, and a sister, Darlene Lawhead.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014,at 11:00 A.M., in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio with Pastor Dan VanArsdalen officiating.

Memorials in the name of William Edward Vollmer may be given to the Western Michigan University Alumni Association.
