KENNETH SULLIVAN, FUHS '42

Sullivan, Kenneth C., beloved husband, father, brother and wonderful friend, passed away July 14th, 2008 after a brief illness.
Ken was born April 24, 1924 in Brea, CA to Arthur and Ruth Sullivan. He attended Fullerton Union High School where he met his future wife, Joyce Irene MacClocklin, at a Spanish Club holiday dinner. He had a lifelong passion for the game of baseball and was captain of the FUHS team that won the CIF championship in 1942. Ken served in World War II in the European theater, where he was part of the D-Day invasion, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and marched in the parade when France was liberated. When he returned from the war, Ken and Joyce married on November 16, 1946. He entered the construction field and later went into sales.
After retirement, Joyce and Ken enjoyed golf, entertaining and traveling with many friends over the years. Ken cherished his Buick Park Avenue, raising tomatoes in his garden, listening to ball games and spending time with his children and grandchildren at their family birthday parties.
Ken is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Nancy Boyd (husband Jim) and Pete Sullivan (wife Nancy Lynn); grandchildren, Dan Sullivan, Kelley Sullivan and Jesse Boyd; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Ciera and Eryn, and sisters, Kathleen Gordon and Marian Sullivan.
A memorial service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Fullerton. Published in the Orange County Register on 7/22/2008
Guest Book (will be available until 8/21/08)

POW WOW 2009 NEWS

Pow Wow 2009 to be held March 28, 2009, hosted by the Class of '56.
Update your information on the Pow Wow contact list that Connie gives to the volunteers to contact you by contacting your class rep or Connie before August. Most class reps have their email address on http://members.aol.com/fuhsalumni/alumni.htm as does Connie CVANHORN@PACBELL.NET
The letters and email messages will go out in August or September. Letters are usually sent only to alumni who don't have email and who have attended a prior luncheon. It is your responsibility to be sure Connie has your current email address and to email Connie if you haven't received news by Halloween. Put your email address on http://members.aol.com/fuhsalumni/alumni.htm so your friends can reach you. (If you have your email address on the FUHS site, be sure that it is CURRENT.) Help your friends who don't have email by phoning them to be sure that they receive a letter and email Connie if they don't (or help by printing one and giving it to them).

MILDRED GAGE SCHNEIDER, FUHS 1937

Schneider, Mildred B., born October 20, 1919 in Los Angeles, California, died June 27, 2008 in Corona del Mar.
Within weeks of birth, Mildred moved to Fullerton, California where she lived for 63 years in a home her father built. She was a talented musician, playing the piano, cello, and organ. She performed often from age 14, and was the church organist for the First Baptist Church in Fullerton beginning at that age. She later was the church organist for the United Methodist Churches in Fullerton and El Centro and Christ Church by the Sea in Newport Beach. She was active in P.E.O., Chapter Y in Fullerton and AV in El Centro. In 1965, she and her husband, Donald Schneider sold the last of their Valencia orange ranch in Fullerton, which was created by her father and moved to Newport Beach. For 28 years she split her time between Newport Beach and El Centro, the home of the Schneider Tractor Company, which had relocated from Tustin, California.
Mildred was loved, respected and admired by her family and friends. She always saw the best in everyone and was known for her interest in others and her caring personality. She constantly looked for beauty all around her and shared it with her family.
Mildred is survived by three children, Sandra Gogel of Costa Mesa, Claudia Looney of Cowan Heights and Douglas Schneider of Newport Beach; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Chapter Y or AV, P.E.O. Projects; or Childrens Hospital Los Angles, Cancer Research; 4650 Sunset Blved. #29, Los Angeles, CA 90027.

I baby-sat the girls when I was in high school if they lived in a wonderful big house in the middle of an orange grove just off what I think would now be State College Blvd.
